The Photolase system enables new possibilities for bacterial germ reduction. A specially developed dye (Photolasesensititzer) is excited by a specially matched to the dye laser. The short term stored in the sensitizer while energy is used here to Photodynamic generate type I and type II reactions with the formation of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). This superoxide, hydroxyl and perhydroxyl arise radical and singlet oxygen.

Due to the unstable electron configuration of ROS succeeds bacterial membranes eg. to destroy by lipid peroxidation.

A clinical application example can be seen on the photos shown. A purulent tonsillitis with fever and reduced AZ was irradiated twice at an interval of 24 with the Photolase system. After 24 you can already see a significant reduction in swelling in significantly improved patient AZ. After 48h no more signs of inflammation can be identified.
